MEGAPHONO is completely free this year, and we are encouraging folks to donate to two Ottawa-based charities, Shelter Movers Ottawa and Britannia Woods Community House.

All donations for MEGAPHONO VIrtual are being made in honour of Darryl Weeks, a friend of the festival and MEGAPHONO delegate who passed away in 2019 while attending our event in Ottawa. The loss of Darryl was devastating to the Canadian music community. We thank you all for your generosity in paying tribute to a man very dear to our hearts, whose spirit is always with us.

Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to women and children fleeing abuse.

Shelter Movers Ottawa was the second chapter to open. Opened in October 2017, Ottawa has since grown exponentially! The Ottawa Chapter works with referral agencies across the city, and are regularly adding more as they expand their reach to within 100km of Ottawa. Click here to donate.

The Britannia Woods area continues to spawn some of Ottawa's most exciting musical talent, rising up from a neighbourhood that has had its share of challenges. Britannia Woods Community House has served the area since 1976, providing social, educational and recreational support to neighbourhood families, as well as the services of an emergency food pantry, which have been well-taxed of late and their main area of service throughout the pandemic.
